This interviewing skills training course covers selection, appraisal, feedback,counselling and disciplinary interviews as all provide opportunities to develop a more productive and constructive employment relationship.

This one day interviewing skills training course will benefit all those who are, or will be, required to interview employees as part of their line management responsibilities.

It is designed primarily for those who have had little or no previous formal training in this area.

  • Undertake structured preparation for different types of interview
  • Use interviewing techniques and skills to gather information, interpret responses and make decisions
  • Plan and conduct a range of interviews from recruitment & selection, appraisal, counselling to conducting disciplinary hearings
  • Experiment and develop new approaches in a constructive and positive environment

  • Key skills definition – listening & questioning techniques
  • The importance of body language
  • The selection interview
  • Recruitment & selection example cases
  • The appraisal interview
  • The “praise sandwich” approach
  • The counselling interview
  • The disciplinary interview
  • A selection of role play scenarios based upon delegate needs
  • Personal development plan for delegates

The interview skills training course is limited to a maximum of twelve delegates. Course costs cover the training workshop, a set of comprehensive course notes, lunch, refreshments and an attendance certificate.
