Course Overview

Very few businesses can afford to employ people with all of the skills and disciplines necessary to run their organisations and therefore the need to bring in contractors has risen dramatically over recent years.

It has been said that a contractor is “someone you invite onto your premises to cause chaos”, but with adequate controls in place, this need not be the case. This one day course looks at the principles of contractor control for safety whilst they are working for you.

At the end of this course delegates will be able to:

• Prepare and assess a contractors safety capability
• Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of safe contracting
• Conduct a contractor induction
• State the benefits of passports and permits to work.
• Prepare an outline health and safety plan for contractors
• Conduct a contractor review meeting

• Procurement and/or pres tender actions
• Scope of work
• Risk assessment
• Hazard exchange
• Responsibilities
• Communication
• What to do when things go wrong
• Site arrangements
• Audit and review

The Control of Contractors Training Course is limited to a maximum of 10 delegates. Course costs cover the training session, a comprehensive set of course notes, lunch, refreshments and an attendance certificate.
