December 2009 - Feeback after Implementation

Hello Paul,

I participated in one of your team leader training courses in June this year that was undertaken by your consultant Alex Gallon.

I wanted to let you know that since this course, I have been working towards NVQ level 3 in Business Administration and have done further tests with the self diagnostic tool as part of my key skills project.

I rolled out Aster Training's diagnostic tool to my team and they completed the questionnaires as an assessment on me as their Team leader rather than an assessment of themselves.

My findings supported the diagnostic tool, as they were the same as my own self assessment. This confirms to me that the managerial style grid and questionnaire are an accurate means of determining a person's management style.

I really enjoyed doing this project and I have Aster Training to thank for that.

Best regards

Louise Daker
MARS Production Team Leader

Question
Responses
What was the most useful aspect of the training event to you? How will this help you in your job role?
  • 5S, 7 wastes. They will help make the office a leaner place to work
  • Helped me to clarify the stages and expected results from each stage
  •  Explaining the 5Ss. I will be able with help to implement this in the offices
  •   A good refresher on most points
  • Linking 5S and VSM
  • Process mapping – will be useful in streamlining procedures
  • 7 wastes – highlighted lots of areas for improvement in the office environment
  • Understanding 7/8 wastes associated with Lean, seeing how those can greatly affect lean and also how in practical ways these can be minimised in an office
What was the least useful aspect of the training event to you? What would you suggest to improve it?
  • Left a little disappointed on the practical learning side. Develop an event to physically map or improve an area
  • Covering things I have already learnt
  • All desk-based. Add in very small site-based practical example.
  • The least useful to me was the value stream mapping as I am not in a senior enough role to make full use of it personally, however the knowledge is very useful and is in the process of being relayed to my manager how can make better use of the techniques I learned.
  • Would have been more beneficial to restrict to critical content and make the session more practical.
Did you feel that your personal expectations were met or not? Please add any comments as appropriate.
  • Yes
  • Having not understood the whole lean office training package, my expectation was to have practicals on our own processes.
  • Yes, was very informative.
  • Yes and more.
  •  I didn’t feel at first that the course was going to be beneficial, but in fact was really surprised at how useful it was and definitely felt it was useful.
What will you do differently/change as a result of attending this training event?
  • Introduce and implement 5S in the offices. Value stream key activities. Use visuals
  • Create an event to map and 5S an area or process.
  • Try to put 5S into use in my own area.
  • Start sorting my filing system out.
  • Start on 5S immediately.
  • Sort out my office – daily schedule
  • Will implement in my department
  • Planning on implementing a proper 5S procedure to make my office/department more efficient and enjoyable place to work in. Also raising awareness of the 8 wastes so that the other department members can be involved in using this everyday hopefully to improve morale.
  • Seek to implement 5S as a starting point.
Have you any other comments to make about this training event?
  • Many thanks.
  • A lot of content to be trained in a short period of time. Dictated a fast pace. Presenter-oriented.
  • Just like to say a big thank you to Paul Wilson who delivered the course in a very informative but enjoyable way. It was a long day but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
