What you will learn

At the conclusion of the lean manufacturing simulation game each participant will be able to:-

  • Recognise the importance of Takt time and calculating Process Cycle Times
  • Recognise ‘waste’ and other non-value added activities throughout a manufacturing process
  • Understand the benefits of 5S in a factory environment
  • Recognise the benefits a basic pull scheduling system e.g. Kanban can make to a manufacturing process both in terms of materials supply and reduction in work in progress.
  • Understand the rudiments of setting up a lean manufacturing cell
  • Identify mistake-proofing devices (Poka Yoke)
  • Understand why factory layout is important (Batch & Queue vs.Cell Manufacturing)
  • Recognise the role ‘managing constraints’ plays in lean manufacturing
