First Aid at Work (Refresher Course)
Course Overview
A certified first aider at work must attend a refresher course and recertify their competency every 3 years. This First Aid at Work training course is a two day refresher designed to ensure previously certified first aiders continue to meet the standards/competency levels laid down by Health and Safety Executive.
Upon successful completion, the candidates will be awarded a First Aid at Work Certificate that is valid for 3 years.

Aims, objectives and priorities
Respiratory systems and asphyxia
Unconscious casualty – recognition and treatment
Cardiac Arrest –recognition and treatment
Cardiac Arrest – recognition and treatment
Shock
Circulatory system
Circulatory problems
Wounds and Bleeding
Effects of heat and cold
Burns and scalds
Day Two
Review of day one
Fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries
Head injuries, spinal injuries
Medical emergencies
Poisons
Eye injuries
Revision – practical and theory
Final assessments – theory and practical tests
First Aid Courses are limited to a maximum of twelve delegates. Course costs cover the training session, a comprehensive set of course notes, lunch and refreshments and a competency certificate. This is a non-residential training course.
